Physical Therapy

Brian Loeffler, Physical Therapist

I am a licensed physical therapist and I’ve been practicing in the field of orthopedics and sports medicine for over ten years. I have always had a passion for sports and fitness. Growing up I played hockey, baseball, soccer, and football and later in life I fell in love with running and triathlons. I’m an avid alpine skier and I’ve competed in marathons, triathlons and adventure races as well as continuing to play hockey—all of which drive me to stay healthy and fit. I enjoy being in the mountains and have found adventure racing to be the perfect test of endurance and outdoor skills, leading me off the beaten path into some amazing places.

I grew up in Vermont but spent ten years in Boston where I attended physical therapy school at Northeastern University and learned the art of physical therapy in arguably the best medical community in the world. I returned to Vermont in 2001 and founded ON TRACK with my wife Kim. I’m happy to be home where I can enjoy all of the lifestyle opportunities Vermont has to offer and to share my passion with others.

Ray Webster, Physical Therapist

Prior to starting my career as a physical therapist, I spent many years as a field ornithologist and PSIA certified x-c ski instructor, as well as serving nine years in the U.S. Army Reserve. My undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Unity College in Maine where my interest in the medical field began as a Wilderness First Responder.

I recently started participating in triathlons, which naturally grew from my passion for competitive running and x-c skiing along with recreational mountain biking. Some of my other interests include rock climbing, hiking and kayaking.

I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Vermont and am licensed to practice physical therapy in the state of Vermont.

Massage Therapy

Kelly Liljeblad, Triathlon and Running Coach,
Massage Therapist

I am a certified massage therapist, running and triathlon coach, and professional athlete. I graduated from The University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport Management. I worked as a personal trainer for 10 years in various settings and with a variety of clientele including the elderly, physical therapy patients, and athletes. Later, I graduated from The Muscular Therapy Institute (Cortiva) in Cambridge, Massachusetts and have been in practice for over 9 years.

Having worked in Olympic and international training centers, my massage clientele included many Olympic and professional triathletes, runners, and swimmers. My specialty in massage therapy includes, but is not limited to, deep tissue sports massage, injury rehabilitation, and cupping massage therapy. I also love to give a nice well-deserved relaxation massage.

I’m also a professional runner and Ironman triathlete and have had the opportunity to travel the world competing in triathlons and road races. As a New Balance-sponsored athlete, I’ve competed against some of the world’s best in many world championship events, and I’ve truly enjoyed every minute of this journey. I’ve worked alongside some of the best and most well known coaches in the world and the training philosophies and lessons I have learned from them are invaluable. I love sharing this information with my running and triathlon clients, and I have a passion for coaching athletes of all abilities.

After living in various altitude training locations throughout the country, including Flagstaff, AZ and Boulder CO, I have decided to come home to the Northeast. I love New England and chose Vermont to settle primarily because of the outdoor scene and relaxed atmosphere. You’ll most likely see me running with my “kiddos” (dogs), Pre (yes, named after Steve Prefontaine) and Aggie (named after our favorite mountain in Flagstaff, Mount Agassiz). I am a true animal lover and they mean the world to me.

Personal Training

Erika Ekstrom, Personal Trainer

I am a Burlington native and I have recently taken my career from finance to fitness. I always loved soccer and after college I realized I had to keep moving. To stay in shape, I started to teach spinning, Pilates and slide classes—I even competed in a couple of bodybuilding shows. With the desire to keep moving, I decided to make my passion for fitness a full-time job instead of just a hobby. This past year I completed a marathon, triathlon, and the NSCA CPT certification.

Jeff Teplitz, Personal Trainer, Ski / Ride Conditioning Instructor, Boot Camp Instructor

Being active and on the go has been a lifelong passion for me. I first thought about exercise as something more than play when I was in the 6th grade and reached my goal of winning the Presidential Fitness Award. Eventually I started training for specific sports such as football, baseball, and rugby. I also skied throughout high school and into college. After college I moved to Colorado to focus on my passion for skiing, continued to play rugby, and discovered mountain biking.

As my focus became more oriented towards biking and skiing, I became more focused on lean muscle and functional training with an emphasis on core strength and balance. I moved to Vermont in 2000 after taking a job with Dynastar / Original Sin snowboards as a sales rep for the New England territory. I started as a member at On Track shortly after it opened in 2001 and received my NCSFT certification in 2006. I work with personal training clients and teach ski / ride fitness, boot camp, core conditioning and spin classes. I truly enjoy working with clients who have fitness goals or activity specific needs and are looking to broaden their functional training or strength specific training.

Kelly Wilson, Personal Trainer

I'm an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Mat Pilates instructor, and certified Alpine Ski Instructor. I'm an avid trail runner and have completed several marathons and ultra distance events. I have two active boys to keep up with and I also enjoy hiking, skiing, camping, traveling and gardening. I graduated from Johnson State College with a BA in Resort and Leisure Management and am currently taking classes to enter into the Physical Therapy Program at UVM. Be Fit, Be Healthy—Enjoy Life!

Leslie Kaufman, Personal Trainer, Spin Instructor

I am a Burlington transplant who came to Vermont two years ago to be with my boyfriend, Matt. I haven’t looked back since! Being active and fit have always been very important to me—I’ve always participated in team sports, up through and including college when I was on the Rowing Team for the University of Michigan. Four knee surgeries over the past ten years have yet to slow me down, but they have altered the way I stay fit (no more basketball for me). Now I concentrate primarily on running, biking, and triathlons, with some snowboarding thrown in.

My love of volunteering and helping people succeed in reaching their goals has aided in my decision to become a Spin Instructor and an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. I enjoy working with people who want to change their lives for the better, both physically and emotionally—I love being a part of that wonderful journey.

Classes

Cathy Janvier, Yoga Instructor

Namaste! My name is Cathy or “Kattsee” when pronounced by a French Canadian like me. Not to worry though, I speak English in class!

I started practicing yoga 10 years ago at a Y.M.C.A. in Montreal. It gave me the bug to become a certified instructor. I completed 300 hours of study of Hatha Yoga in 2003 and 45 hours of study of Viniyoga in 2005 at a reputable yoga center in Ottawa called Rama Lotus.

I have been instructing for over 6 years. The style I developed is a blend of postural and breathing exercises learned from teachers of various Hatha styles as well as from physical therapists and trainers. There is a lot more to yoga than stretching, and my classes are just as much about developing strength and balance as they are about developing flexibility.

Typically my classes begin with a couple minutes of calming followed by core exercises to warm up the body then a flowing sequence of poses involving both sides of the body equally, and then we finish with a few minutes of guided relaxation.

I emphasize safe physical alignment, which often can only be achieved with the use of props, and I encourage students to respect their edge. My classes are accessible to all, and take place in an unpretentious, casual environment where humor and questions are always welcome.

I have many interests and commitments in addition to yoga: I am a sports community organizer, a graphic designer, an Ultimate Frisbee hall-of-famer, and a wine aficionado.

See you in class!

Coaching

Jess Cover, Running Coach

I have been running competitively for over 12 years. I race all distances, but have a special relationship with the marathon. My personal best in the marathon is 3:05.05 at Vermont’s own Key Bank Vermont City Marathon. My Half Marathon PR of 1:27.52 was set on the challenging New Bedford Half Marathon course in March of 2008. I’m the President of The Green Mountain Athletic Association, Vermont’s premier running club. I also teach a Marathon 101 course for the first time marathoner as well as coach at Basin Harbor Women’s Running Camp. And last but not least, I’m the Head Girls Cross Country Coach at South Burlington High School. As you can see, I love running and working with runners!

I love how running has changed me and helped to make me a better person on all levels. Running allows me to challenge myself and coaching allows me to challenge (and support) others in ways they never thought possible.

I have a BA in Psychology from Johnson State College and I believe the psychological aspects of running and the mental training involved are just as important as the physical training. If you’re ready to take your running to the next level, I would love to be the one to help you get there!

Kim Loeffler, Triathlon and Running Coach

I always knew that sports would play a huge role in my life; I just never imagined that I would be able to travel around the world and have a career as a Professional Triathlete.

I ran competitively in Division 1 track and cross country at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After college, I moved to Boston to pursue a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from Northeastern University. I continued to focus on my running, joined the Boston Athletic Association and found myself looking for a new challenge. In 1998, I decided to do my first triathlon. I dusted off my old Schwinn bike and started training. I had a blast at the race! I couldn't wait to do my next triathlon. I enjoyed the training and started seeing results. Two years later, I turned Pro. The following year, my husband and I moved to Vermont to start On Track.

I am passionate about triathlon, but my greatest passion is teaching others that anything is possible as long as you believe in yourself. I train a lot, but I also make time to give back to the sport though coaching, volunteer work and speaking to people of all ages about the value of sport in our lives.

Administrative

Kerry Connor, Accounts Manager

I have always loved Vermont. I grew up in Massachusetts and would spend many winter weekends skiing in Vermont. After moving to Chicago, Milwaukee and back to Boston again, I finally got my wish. My husband was given the opportunity to relocate to Burlington. With our 18-month-old daughter and our loving boxer “Summit” in tow, we packed up our stuff and drove north. We’ve been here for 2 years and recently welcomed a beautiful new daughter to the family.

I’ve been a competitive runner most of my life. I graduated from UMass Amherst where I captained the Cross Country and Track n Field teams. I still miss the 800M, but now enjoy a nice long peaceful run. I love being outside (even in the winter). When I’m not at On Track you could probably find me running, hiking, skiing or swinging on the swings at the local park with my family.

Zoe Bishop, Office Manager

I was born and raised in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I’ve been back in Burlington for two years now, after a seven-year hiatus spent on the lovely island of Maui. I studied Studio Arts in college and am currently part of an art space co-operative where I paint, make prints, and occasionally just dance around like nobody’s business. I respond well to cookie bribes, and am practicing my Jedi mind tricks as I write this.
